Patients returning after a long gap should be automatically flagged so your reception team can book the right appointment type from the start. E.g patient returning after a year or more than two years: a flag pops up and the reception team can see they need a re-exam appointment or a longer new patient appointment if it has been longer.
The times can be adjusted to suit how you practice at your clinic for patients needing these appointment types.
Currently this has to be done manually, and sometimes reception teams forget to check.
This is very important clinically as patients need to be re-assessed after certain periods as a lot can change. In addition, if a patient is mistakenly booked in for a regular treatment appointment it then needs to be rescheduled and changes to a different date and different appointment type which can be very frustrating for patients, due to time, not getting the slot they thought they had, and the extra unexpected cost of a different appointment which they would not have been told at time of booking. Especially if they are booking in themselves using online booking.
