Would it not make more sense to ask the person booking online to fill in their name etc screen first? This way, the system would instantly know if they are new or existing pt. This could then send them straight to book a NP appointment OR only offer existing pt appointments. Then, just like if you are “book another” (on the processing screen) it defaults to booking the same appointment type the pt has just had, could the system them off this appointment at the top of the list or offer it separate from the rest of the list at the top? Maybe a better flow? Plus if a NP is booking in, selected a date and time only to get to the end (current format) to be told they need to select a NP appointment instead of Chiro etc, they might be a little miffed when there isn’t a NP appointment today anymore but instead they need to wait 1-2 weeks? Just a thought! ;-)
